The St. Regis Beijing is a beautiful grand hotel, clean and well appointed. This is a 5 star property. The butler service is a nice touch. The spa is world class, but if you just want a foot rub or back rub, the massage spa across the street (next to McDonalds and Duck King Restaurant) does a better job for a fraction of the price. 4 fine restaurants, though the buffet was a bit lacking. Best Italian food in Beijing. Grill restaurant featured a guest French chef, simply outstanding.
One more example of the fine details: every time we got into a taxi, the doorman would write the taxi number down and hand it to us. Why? Taxi drivers know that if you are a westerner staying at the St. Regis then you have $$$. They will try to scam you. By writing the taxi number down, the drivers were more likely to play it straight.
